Recap, Philadelphia 76ers’ continue their losing streak
Washington Wizards defeated Philadelphia by just a single point lead, 115 - 116 at Verizon Center, Washington. Although, the match provided 76ers with an opportunity to escape of the hole of 4 -0, they end up in losing the game due to nasty performances
by their players.
First Quarter
Andray Blatche made the first basket of the match for the Wizards and earned 2 points. His overall performance during the first quarter also remained remarkable. He led his team with 9 points. John Wall “The Dougie” stamped six points on the scoreboard.
Nick Young added 5 points. Al Thornton scored 4 points for Wizards.
Standing at 6-feet 4inches, Jrue Holiday opened the first session for 76ers with two points, and scored 10 points by the end of first quarter. Elton Brand scored 6 points for his team. Tony Battie, Louis Williams, and Andres Nocioni scored 2 points each.
Wizards took the lead at the end of first half 27–28.
Second Quarter
At Wizards corner, Young dominated the second quarter and added 10 points. The speed of Wall slowed down in the second session and he just added 2 points. Yi Jianlian accelerated himself during the last phase of the second quarter and ended up with 6 points.
Armstrong added 2 points.
Jason Kapono headed 76ers’ in the second quarter and scored 5 points. Brand and Speights added 4 points individually. Williams added 3 and Battie scored 2 points.
By the end of second quarter, the ball remained in the Wizard’s court 50–48.
Third Quarter
Wall remained ahead and added a further 8 points for the Wizards in the third session. Hinrich followed him with 6 points. Blatche scored 4 points in the third half. Yi and McGee scored 3 points each. Young added 4 points.
Brand remained the top scorer for 76ers’ during the third quarter and added 10 points. Iguodala boosted his energy and scored 9 points. Williams added 5 more points in the third phase of the game. Hawes seemed to be sleeping during the first two quarters,
speeded up in the third session, and ended up adding 4 points.
After 3 sessions, Wizards were ahead of 76ers’ 72–66.
Fourth Quarter
Wall accelerated the fourth phase for Wizards and scored 9 points. Thornton, Yi, and Young uplifted the score by 6 points each. Martin put 3 points on the scoreboard.
Williams was awesome as he added 10 valuable points for 76ers’. Turner turned the way his name indicates and added 9 points. Young supported his team with 6 points.
Intermission
The fourth quarter ended up in a very interesting situation where 76ers played the fourth session in a fantastic way and levelled the score 106 – 106. It was then decided to play the overtime.
Overtime
In the overtime both of the teams tried, their level best but extra efforts from the Wizards provided them with a success. Blatche (5 points) and Wall (4 points) played the overtime in a perfect manner. 76ers’ added 9 points in the provided overtime while
the Wizards remained ahead by scoring 10 points.
Quote of the match
Wizard’s coach, Doug Collins appreciated the efforts of Wall and said, "Oh, he's a fantastic player, a special talent. He is so big, fast, and strong. He's going to be very special for Washington".
Wizards forward, Andray Blatche acknowledged Martin's 3-point shot, "There were some big shots but that one was the biggest of the game".
