Play by Play
1st Quarter
The 1st quarter started with a jump shot made by Donte Greene and then a foul from the Kings that was also committed by Greene. Andrei Kirilenko missed the two free throws given to their team.
2nd Quarter
The second quarter started favorably for the Jazzs as C.J. Miles, Earl Watson, Ronnie Price, Francisco Elson, and Kyrylo Fesenko played with a boost of energy. Together the reserves managed to secure a 43-32 lead.
The Jazz Coach Jerry Sloan was pleased with the performance of his reserves in the second quarter as he later said, “Obviously a win is a win, but I thought our second group kind of gave us some life in the first half. It seemed like they ran the floor much better. Our execution in the first part of the game was really not much.”
3rd and 4th Quarter
The Jazzs were rapid and they outscored the Kings as they made 24 against their 10 fast break points. The Kings gave 15 turnovers and the Jazzs took full advantage of that to take them to the lead at the opening of the fourth quarter. While going into the fourth quarter they kind of stopped after leading the Kings by 22.
Another thing that helped them was that they let the Kings grab only four fast break points in the first three quarters.
U-Turn
The second quarter proved to be dreadful for the Kings and wonderful for the Jazzs. Utah Jazz was outscoring the Kings 18-8 at 7:32 and clearly took a 49-37 lead by halftime. While the Jazzs were leading, the Kings could only grab two baskets during that time. The third quarter was all but highlighted by the Utah Jazz as Andrei Kirilenko sank in two free throws. Both Deron Williams and Paul Millsap each scored lay-ups in a 6-0 mini-run to extend it to 67-50.
Strong Link
C.J. Miles was among the hot players tonight as he gave an outstanding performance throughout the game. He shot 8 for 13 and scored seven of his first nine attempts at the shots.
Cousins was selected in the 2010 NBA draft and he played 29 minutes of the game. He made his career high 18 points that night. He gave four offensive rebounds and shot 8 for 10 right from the free throw line.
Weak Link
The Kings were not in the mood to play a good game and it seems like they have already grown tired after winning three of their first four games. They shot only 4 for 22 in the second quarter and were put out throughout the game. Williams missed six of his seven shots and was among the weak links too.
