Recap of 2nd day matches of Samila-Chang Beach Volleyball Tournament – Part 2
The Kazak ladies, who launched their authority on the team from New Zealand on Sunday, could not keep up the same energy in their next match.
The duo of Tatyana Mashkova and Irina Tsimbalova were challenged by Australia’s Katie Bartoli and Serah Battaglena in the second match of the first round on Monday, April 11.
The Kazak side started out well and managed to get the grip of the game in early few minutes. However, the Aussie players also had the firm ambition of victory. Bartoli and Battaglena formed a good strategy and stood in the way of the Kazak shots. The exchange
of prolific shots created a great vibe in the game. The fans cheered at almost every good shot.
After the first technical timeout, the players sat and discussed the prospects of the game. The Australian players came up with a great plan. They strengthened their defence line and also brought more ferocity in attack. In the meanwhile, Kazak team tried
different ways and hit the ball from all directions.
The point-to-point battle continued until the end, while Aussie pair managed to make a difference with the 22-20 win over Kazakhstan.
After dropping the first set, the Kazak side was simply raged-up. They threw everything in attack and struggled to recover from the shock of early loss. Nonetheless, the success in first set provided a competitive edge to Australian team.
They remained united and did not allow Kazak players to come up. Despite of great efforts and a lot of hard work, the Kazak ladies were disgusted with the low score. The Aussies proved to be too strong for the opponents and announced victory by capturing
second set in a row.
