Recap of Hull Football Club encounter against Salford City Reds in Super League 2011
Hull Football Club experienced a victory of 52-16 against the Salford City Reds in the Engage Super League 2011 on July 8.
This latest clash of the Hull FC against the Reds was highly anticipated, as the Hulls were facing the Reds on their home ground, the Kingston Communications (KC) Stadium.
The Hull FC, established since 1865 in York, is also known as the Black and Whites. They have been one of the 14 teams in the Engage Super League tournament. The Hull’s have had a good season so far, winning from the Harlequins Rugby League (RL) by 38-6,
the Bradford Bulls by 28-14 and the Wakefield Trinity Wildcats by 52-18, in the Super League matches.
The Hulls have won three games out of four played recently, making the team an admirable adversary. Seeing the Hull’s admirable wins, Jordan Turner, the Red’s centre, commented, “You go into every game looking to get over the whitewash and looking to get
your team the win, regardless of who you are playing.”
The Reds were especially hopeful for the game as their team is in excellent state. This is due to the players like Ray Cashmere, Daniel Holdsworth, Iafeta Palea’aesina, and others, who were looking forward to a victory against the Hulls, also played in the
KC Stadium in the Super League 2002.
Also, their wins against the likes of the Warrington Wolves by 18-16, the Crusaders RL by 22-18 and the Harlequins RL by 26-18, included in four matches won amongst the five recently played, makes them worthy opponents.
The 52-16 loss of Salford City Reds has seen them away from the Super League play-off matches, while also giving them the tenth position, one above the Bulls, on the Super League Table. Had they won, they would have been one of the eight to be part of the
play-offs.
Additionally, the Reds new coach, Matt Parish, had just reached his team earlier on Friday, July 8, and the previous coach, Phil Veivers had to put in all his efforts in the coach’s absence, in order to inch towards the play-offs. Regarding their shape for
the game, Veivers said, “Every game we go into we have a belief we can win.”
Hull’s win was helped by the team’s superb performances. They obtained their victory by being ahead of the Reds since the beginning of the match. Most worthy of being mentioned for this game are Tom Briscoe, the Hulls winger, who scored three successive
points in the game; and Joe Westerman, the Hull’s stand-off, who was the most averred player in the game.
The Hulls FC triumph over the Salford City Reds puts them in the seventh position on the Super League Table, one place below the Castleford Tigers. They are now intended to play the Leeds Rhinos on Friday, July 15.
