were played in Pool H. Teams from Sri Lanka, Japan, TLS and Maldives approached the podium to contest their spike and block capabilities. The first match between Sri Lanka and Japan lasted for 41 minutes and finally graced Japanese duo with success. In the
second match of Pool H, Maldives proved to be better side after three-set game with TLS and claimed victory. It took them 51 minutes to dismantle the power of TLS team.
Asanka/Sampath (SRI) vs. Hasegawa/Murakami (JPN) 0-2 (20-22, 14-21)

Sri Lankan duo comprised of Asanka Medagedara and Sampath Peiris, while Japan played with the pairing of Yoshiumi Hasegawa and Hitoshi Murakami. Both sides entered the court with a lot of attitude and determination. Japanese duo opened the match with powerful
serves and started the hard-hitting. On the other hand, Sri Lankan duo was ready to deal with Japanese strike. They received the shots with firm hands and staged good defence. They hit back Japan with speedy under-hand shots and avoided illegal hits. The score
shifted up with close gap of points and the tussle continued until the end of the first set. Both sides regularly traded lead but finally Japan got the perfect chance to finish the first set with victory. They closed off the set at 22-20.
The success in opening set of the match defined the winning route for Japanese team. They produced commanding shots in next set and successfully grabbed the control of the game. Sri Lankan players resisted to Japan’s movement but failed to put up with the
convincing shots by Japanese duo. Japan picked up a strong lead in the game and further tightened the screws of Sri Lankan team with stronger attack. They added quick points and paved their way to success in second set. Sri Lanka lost the set with a margin
of 13 points. Japan declared match victory in the 41st minute of the game.
Rocha/Correia (TLS) vs. Asfag/Sajid (MDV) 1-2 (18-21, 21-18, and 14-15)

Rocha/Correira of TLS clashed with Maldives’ Asfag/Sajid on Monday, December 13, 2010. Maldivian duo made a good start in the game. Sajid was on serve and he floated the ball in air with great skill. Both MDV players poised their feet on sand and perfectly
complimented each other. Likewise, TLS’ side was equipped with smart defence techniques and they remained hand in hand with their counter-parts. Asfag was quick to poke the tricky bump passes in TLS’ half, which promptly raised their score. The opening set
of the match saw an exchange of swift spikes over the net. The thrilling action continued with same pace but situation remained undecided. However, Maldives’ duo managed to settle for triumph in first set with better score.
After dropping the first set, Team TLS hit back strongly. They lost the first set but refused to accept Maldives’ rule in the game. They came strong on their competitors and struggled to level the game-score in second set. The valiant effort of Rocha/Correria
worked out good progress for TLS and built a lead. Maldivian duo tried to keep an upper-hand on the opponents but they failed to do so. The better attack attempts and defence enabled TLS to earn 21-18 victory in second set.
The 15-point golden set was head-to-head battle as both sides attacked aggressively. Maldives played under pressure but they remained consistent in hitting prolific shots. Ultimately, MDV proved to be too good for match victory by winning third set at 15-14.
