Recap of first-day matches AVC Continental Beach Volleyball Cup, Chinese Taipei
The Sub-Zonal Continental Cup ran from 24-26 December in the city of Fengshan, Kaohsiung in Chinese Taipei. The double-gender tournament welcomed Pool B teams from Japan, Chinese Taipei and Macau (CHN). This segment of the Sub-Zonal Tournament is supposed
to feature the East-Asian countries. Earlier on, China and Thailand clinched success in their respective Sub-Zonal competitions. They reserved their seats in the Zonal-Tournament, which will further provide them a chance to compete for slots in the 2012 London
Olympics. Japan, Chinese Taipei and Macau are also on the board to qualify for the next stage as well. Only two top teams will be promoted in the Zonal-Tournament.
The first day of the AVC Beach Volleyball Continental Cup was overwhelmed by a stellar performance of home teams. Chinese Taipei’s players had a winning start in the tournament and outshined guest teams from Macau on Friday, 24th December, 2010.
A total of six matches were played on the first day. The ladies section featured four matches, while men’s duos played two matches.
Women’s competitions
Chinese Taipei competed with two pairs. The first team of Chinese Taipei was comprised of Kou Nai Han and Chang h*i Min. Likewise, Hsieh Pei Shan and Liu Pi Hsin represented Chinese Taipei as second team.
First match
The strong pairing of Kou Nai Han and Chang h*i Min came across Hong Sio Cheng and Ao Un Ieng of Macau in the first match of the day. The home team was equipped with all necessary tools and techniques to dismiss the weak opponents. They started out really
well and built a strong lead in the game. Macau’s pair failed to put up with the heavy strike of Taipei players and collapsed in the first match. The home players posted a score of 21-3 and 21-5 and secured the first win.
Second match
In the next match, Chinese Taipei’s Hsieh Pei Shan and Liu Pi Hsin faced Lie Weng Si and Ng Nga Tat of Macau. The second pair of Macau performed better as compared to their country mates in the earlier match. They resisted to Chinese Taipei’s score and tried
to hinder their performance. Nonetheless, the home-side managed to take lead in the game and pushed the opponents behind the line. The match ended in Chinese Taipei’s favour. The winning pair of Chinese Taipei clipped 2-0 (21-6 and 21-8) victory over Macau.
Third match
The duo of Kou Nai Han and Chang h*i Min approached the court in afternoon for their second match against Macau’s Lie Weng Si and Ng Nga Tat. The pumped up home duo once again sparked on the scene with a spectacular game. Macau’s team couldn’t match their
abilities with the wonderful Kou Nai Han and Chang h*i Min. Chinese Taipei’s side seized victory in the match by posting a score 21-7 and 21-8.
Fourth match
The last encounter of women’s teams brought in Hsieh Pei Shan and Liu Pi Hsin of Chinese Taipei and Hong Sio Cheng and Ao Un Ieng of Macau in the court. Home duo had already staged a great performance in first match and they had the competitive edge in the
game. They easily managed to launch their authority on the competitor side. Victory graced home team as they sent 21-8 and 21-8 on the scoreboard to claim 2-0 victory.
Men’s Competitions
In the men’s section, Chinese Taipei was represented by Tang Ping Yu and Lin Kou Hsiang tagged as first team, while second pair of Chinese Taipei had Lee Yung Chang and Hsiao Yu Tang. Both duos of Chinese Taipei worked out great results in their respective
matches and clinched success.
In the first match, Chinese Taipei’s Tang Ping Yu and Lin Kou Hsiang played against Macau’s Too C.K. and Leong K.H. They defeated them with a score of 21-10 and 21-15. The second match of men’s team was played between Chinese Taipei’s Lee Yung Chang/Hsiao
Yu Tang and Macau’s Cheong Ka Chong/Choi Wai Kit. The home finished the game in two sets by scoring 21-13 and 21-19 respectively.
