Recap of the fiercest battles of 2012:  Djokovic vs. Murray – Shanghai Rolex Masters 2012
Reigning world number, Novak Djokovic, rallied past his top rival, Andy Murray in the final round of the Shanghai Rolex Masters, a 1000-points ATP Masters event on 10th October 2012.
The Serbian professional experienced a grumpy tour in the middle of the season, as his ranking dropped to the second spot after the Wimbledon Championships. He received a shocker at the hands of the Swiss Maestro in the semi-final round and was unable to
defend his bronze medal at the London 2012 Olympics.
At the US Open Grand Slam, the Serbian contender encountered the British challenger in the final round but was unsuccessful in securing the lead. After a tough five setter battle, Murray was snatched his first Grand Slam title on the hard courts of New York.
The right-hander Serbian avenged his former loss at Shanghai and skilfully contested to receive his seventh different ATP World Tour Masters trophy.
In a post match interview, Djokovic told the media, "I'm trying to focus now on the end of the season. I need to play well indoors. I need to try to stay consistent with my results and eventually get a shot at No. 1 of the world. It's my biggest objective
in this moment. It's something I'm aiming for. Obviously this is going to be a huge confidence boost and is going to help me in the race for No. 1. As I said, it's still not done.  I still have to play well indoors. It's difficult to judge who was better because
it was so close throughout the whole match"
The higher ranked Serbian professional set out a remarkable contest since the start of the tournament and thundered forward power serves. He pocketed away all the opportunities against his rival to make his victory more memorable.
The 25-year-old British, was extremely disappointed to clinch his win at the ATP Masters Event. After the London Olympics, he preserved his winning pace, journeying at an exceptionally unstoppable momentum.
Murray was truly disappointed with his performance; he committed several unexpected errors but also came up with small decent serves. His loss at the ATP Masters did not give him a setback in his world rankings but gave a boost to work hard for his new campaign.
The Serbian professional completely demoralized his challenger confidence when he took the lead in the tiebreaker by 13-11. Murray was unable to nudge up and serve his rival in the next set and eventually bestowed the match upon Djokovic.
The Serbian challenger attained 60 percent initial serve precision, with just three aces and committed four double faults. On the other hand, the Scot attained 55 percent serve accuracy, converting 46 of 71 points in response.
