The women’s volleyball action started off in Panama City on November 28th. The tournament featured three matches a day. Panama, Belize, Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador, Costa Rica and Nicaragua are fighting for the
top position in the tournament. There have been some amazing performances on the first two days, while the championship entered its third day on Wednesday, the 1st of December. The following games were played on the third day of the campaign:
Nicaragua vs. Belize 3-0 (25-15, 25-10, 25-8)
The teams from Nicaragua and Belize met in the first match on Wednesday. Nicaragua was considerably stronger side, while Belize was struggling with a low status in the tournament. They failed to create any buzz in the previous
two matches and saw a strong contender pitted against them in the third match.
Nicaragua had a great player line-up. They took full advantage of their better physique and height. Powerful serves and strong hits enabled them to lead the game from the start. They added quick points to their score and won the
first set with a 10-point margin. Belize’s team tried hard but couldn’t stand the strength of Nicaragua’s strikers. They blew away Belize with a spectacular game in the second set. Another set slipped through the hands of Belize’s team. Nicaragua didn’t stop
and continued with success in the third set. They formed a superb offensive attack and stormed Belize’s half with speedy spikes. Nicaragua was destined to win and they bagged another easy victory against Belize.
Costa Rica vs. Honduras 3-0 (25-7, 25-14, 25-12)
The second match of the day brought Costa Rica and Honduras to the court. The teams hit the podium with great plans. Costa Rica and tried different attack strategies and hit Honduras’ team from various angles. The ball moved like
a spear and damaged the Honduran team with every shot. The Costa Rican team paved its way to a first-set win without much effort. Honduras was plagued by bad performances and collapsed with 9 in the first set.
Nonetheless, the Honduran players hit back in the second set. They put up a good fight and improved on their reception. They raised their score with an average speed but Costa Rica was quick to cover the length of the second set.
They remained ahead in the game and closed the second set with a 9-point lead. Costa Rica’s Team attained the perfect tone to dominate in the match. They worked out nice shots and didn’t allow Honduras to get in the way of their victory. The third set also
claimed by Costa Rica, clinching victory.
Panama vs. El Salvador 3-1 (25-19, 23-25, 25-17, 25-11)
In the last match on Wednesday, December 1st, the hosts Panama clashed with El Salvador. Panama has had a good run in the tournament. The home team achieved absolute success in the first two matches. On the other hand,
El Salvador’s team was also in great form. The match started on a high note. Both sides played in great style. However, victory graced Panama in the first set. El Salvador reacted strongly in the second set and battled out a close victory. The bruising encounter
continued and Panama retook the lead in the game. They captured the third set and pushed El Salvador behind. Afterwards, the home squad performed brilliantly and pulled off a victory by winning the fourth set. It was Panama’s third straight victory in XVI
