Interested into getting into archery and maybe eventually trying to get a deer with a bow. Looking for suggestions as to a good, quality, but not high-cost bow.

  1. Look at Martin, PSE, and Bear- the price will range from $189 to $519.- there are over 12 different models made by these 3 companies.-  Hope you get into archery, especially bow hunting- you will find no thrill like it.

  2. Martin X-200s are very good recurves, at about $300 it's also quite affordable.

  3. Depends on what your definition of "not high-cost" is...

Some of the lowest prices I have seen for good quality recurve bows are from 3Rivers Archery

They have some recurves for less than $500 (the Bear "Grizzly", which a fine bow, sells for approx $300).

If this is still too high-cost for you, the best place to find a bow would be a local archery store; many archery stores have a "used bow" section where you can find an outstanding deal on a used bow which is still in great condition. (I found my first bow at a flea-market, at a cost of $50 -- and all I had to do to "fix it up" was replace the string and take a small bit of twist out of the lower limb)

Good luck on your new quest -- and welcome to the world of Traditional Archery.
