Reccommended running shoes?

Hi, I'm looking to get a pair of running shoes and i don't know which ones to get. I know asics are good, and i have heard that Nike have some good ones like Free and air max. What would you reccommend?

Btw i am only looking to spend about £50.

Everyone has their favourites but mine is Saucony. I've bought Saucony shoes for many years and they've always suited me perfectly. I would try and go to a specialist running shop (not a 'sports' shop like JD Sports etc) and try a few pairs on. The staff know about running and will give good advice. You can get addresses of running shops from publications such as 'Runners' World'.

Asics are the best by far, I used to always wear nike but then I switched to asics and they were much more comfortable and lighter to run with.

I've always been happy with Asics but my spikes (100m) were Adidas.

Another thing is make sure you go to a store and go on one of those machines that tracks your 'footprint' - ie. whether you pronate or (whatever the other way is). That's free and is far more important than a particular 'brand'. That way you also get more for you fifty quid.

running on a track?? then u'd better get spikes.  not football type spikes, but track ones.  I know sprinters shoes are different than distance shoes...sprinters have a next to nonexistant heel and distance has a bigger one, for more support.  If your just looking to run on concrete, get something lightweight... but NOT spikes.  i love my aisics! but its totally up to you :) good luck

I would go for a used pair at a second-hand store.

Once you fumigate the insides, they are as good as any other shoes.

Best advice I can give is to go to a specialist running shop and try on a few pairs. What fits me well, or any of the other answerer's might not fit you quite as well, so go and try some on. All the brands that they sell will be good quality so don't worry too much about that, go for something that fits you well.

I wear New Balance trainers by the way, to add another name to the list of running shoe brands that people buy.
