  1. Go to http://www.thokalath.com/cuisine/breakfa... ...idly tastes very very good when soaked for 1-2 seconds in a sambar.  good luck!! Idly tastes better when warm.

  2. Take 4 cups of boiled rice , 1 teaspoonful fenugreek seeds 1 cup  of very good, new urad dhal and soak them separately for 5 hrs.[rice for 5 hrs and urad for half an hr]and half an hr resp..ly .

grind them  separately. --rice and fenugreek  together and urad separately . when you  grind urad see that you keep adding water periodically. the urad flour will  become fuffy and  voluminous--1cup of dhal, soaked and ground will and should yield not less than 10 cups of flour.

mix  the rice paste and urad flour thoroughly in a clockwise direction with appropriate salt added to the batter. Don't change direction  while mixing. Allow it to ferment,  remember to keep  the batter in a large  container . Otherwise  the flour will be on the floor after fermentation.

Now you can use an idli maker  and steam cook the idlis for 7 minutes. [the flour must be in the proper consistency; enough water must be added while grinding. Don't make it too thick or watery. Trial and error will solve the issue and practice will make it perfect.

Enjoy  soft poo idli with chutney , sambar etc.
