  1. Just take it to your bank who knows you, or should, (if they don't then I would switch banks for I want my banker to know who I am)  You will have to show your I D and then will be able to deposit the check.  The best thing to do is to start a savings account for that child. Continue to put money into the acct. (do not take any out EVER!)  and soon he will have enough money to take or help him through college.  God Bless!

  2. You will need to go into your bank and let them know the check is for your child - they will have you print his name then minor child then your signature under it.  You can use your account as recourse (in case the check doesnt clear the account it is from)

Dont use the ATM they will just send it back to you because your sons name isnt on the account.

If you have an account with his name on it you can stamp it for deposit only and put it in that account.

  3. Using an atm would look like you are hiding something. Go to your local branch and tell them you recieved this check for your infant son and you would like to deposit it. They will have you sign it and write for deposit only on the back. Very simple.

  4. I've deposited checks in the past with other names on them. as long as the person writing the check has no problems with you cashing it, I'd say use the ATM and deposit it.

where you may get a delay is if your last name is different than your son's.

  5. Open a saving account for your child and use the check as the first deposit.

  6. You can open a joint account, with your name and your son's name.  You are custodian of account.  Use your social security number initially.  Apply for social security number for your son, and put that number on the account when you get it.

I did this for my children.

Congratulations, and good luck to you!
