  1. i also got it... can anyone verify?

  2. i just got one a few minutes ago. its very possible since china is very near us but can anyone please explain

  3. Yeah i also received that same message.

you can click this link for further info:

    http://earthquake.usgs.gov/eqcenter/rece...

  4. I ALSO RECEIVED THIS TEXT...CAN ANYONE PROVIDE US WITH AN EXPLANATION FOR THIS...ITS SO ALARMING!!!

  5. Yes. It is going to happen. But here's the deal. If you stand on the nearest beach and let the resulting Tsunami kill you first thing, you won't have to deal with the death and destruction sure to follow a disaster of this magnitude.

And hey, if they got it wrong, you've just spent a lovely time at the beach!

Actually, to my knowledge, there's no way to predict a large earthquake with any accuracy, much less the exact magnitude or time.

But, uhh, good luck with that.

  6. i received a text message about this too and i caught this site in the web:

    http://earthquake.usgs.gov/eqcenter/rece...

does this confirm the text message that we have received?

  7. Incredibly, there's a 50/50 chance it's true.

  8. I got this text as well! I think that we should be careful and pray to God for our safety. This magnetude is really strong and can cause severe damage.!!! Better safe than sorry Let's pray that God will protect us!

  9. Google for it and you will see it is a hoax. Below link from USGS.

FAQ - Common Myths about Earthquakes

    Q: Can you predict earthquakes?

A: No. Neither the USGS nor Caltech nor any other scientists have ever predicted a major earthquake. They do not know how, and they do not expect to know how any time in the foreseeable future. However based on scientific data, probabilities can be calculated for potential future earthquakes. For example, scientists estimate that over the next 30 years the probability of a major EQ occurring in the San Francisco Bay area is 67% and 60% in Southern California.

The USGS focuses their efforts on the long-term mitigation of earthquake hazards by helping to improve the safety of structures, rather than by trying to accomplish short-term predictions.

although USGS can't actually predict earthquakes, they still made a warning that an earthquake might happen in luzon. predicted time is 5:48AM awhile ago.

    http://neic.usgs.gov/neis/bulletin/neic_...

predicted magnitude is 5.3.  predicted epicenter is 145km east of baguio. since predicted time was 11 hours ago and wala namang confirmed reports from news agencies that it occurred, hopefully wala na mangyayari sa atin.
