Receiver Kenny Britt’s arrest on DWI: Tennessee Titans to give details after information gathering
The Tennessee Titans have said to be aware of the arrest of their receiver Kenny Britt and were in a process of information gathering around the driving while intoxicated (DWI) incident, which has landed the player into the police custody.
Kenny, who is already on a warning from the professional league regulator National Football League (NFL) over earlier disciplinary issues, is well known for the off-field troubles. He has so far been accused of several incidents of discipline violation and
other charges of different natures.
His latest arrest on the DWI charge happened early Friday morning as the player reportedly was trying to access Fort Campbell through the main gate, as confirmed by Bob Jenkins, the Army public information officer.
The player was reportedly with his teammate cornerback Tommie Campbell and a female soldier at the time of arrest at about 3:30 local time in the wee hours of Friday.
Campbell later tweeted to confirm he was not with the receiver but instead is with his kids in Pennsylvania. The army official did not confirm the arrest of Campbell.
Later, the Titans released an official statement saying they were in process of gathering information around the reported incident and should be able to disclose further information around it once the information-gathering was done.
The statement read:
"We are aware of the situation and are in the process of gathering more facts."
There are no details from either end if the player has been released or still in the police custody. Also, it is difficult to guess the seriousness of the offence or if any other incident relates to it at the moment amid the dearth of facts.
Nevertheless, the player has once again landed himself in troubles. Even if he escapes an action in the court of law, he certainly faces a stern NFL penalty. He is already under warning from the league and the latest incident also tantamount to another violation
on part of the receiver.
Britt is also recovering from an anterior curciate ligament (ACL) surgery he had earlier this year. His number of violations and arrests has touched half-a-dozen figure, reflecting that he is not new to this sort of incidents.
He has also been very critical of the NFL and more precisely of the commissioner Roger Goodell.
