i just bought new speakers, a 5.1 set, but my receiver only has 2 front and 2 back outputs. i hooked it up to my subwoofer so nows its like a 4.1 system(no center channel), but the bass sounds lacking sometimes... will i notice a dramatic change if i get a new receiver with adequate outputs?

btw the system is the hkts 14 model if you wanted to know.

  1. Yea, it sounds to me like a new receiver is needed at this point. My guess is that your existing receiver also had no dedicated subwoofer output. If so, that complicates matters further. It's time for a new receiver.

  2. You're not close to Dolby 5.1 surround....

You're just Stereo with your amplifier setup...

So a good mid-priced DENON 7.1 system would be an IDEAL UPGRADE in your situation....

But if you have the money, I'll suggest the AVR 3805 because you will keep that unit for a good 20 years !

Go look at the reviews and it's capabilities and you'll understand why I recommend this unit...

  3. yeah go with a new receiver.  An Onkyo 605 or 674 would be perfect.
