already been to the website but theres no real info on how to recieve freesat.

i'm guessing an old sky digi box wont work but i have got a technosat reciever i used to use for hotbird. cant remember the model number but it was a pretty upmarket job about 4 years ago. is this likely to tune in the freesat epg?

is the signal sent from the same sats as sky astra 28.2E? or will i need another dish?

thanks

jack

  1. Freesat was only released on Monday so it's unlikely that your old equipment can receive and decode it.

  2. Hi Jack

    Bad news I'm afraid

Yes FreeSat is broadcast from the SES Astra, Eutelsat cluster at 28E,

But it is broadcast using the DVB-S digital system. So you will need a DVB-S receiver and they are hard to get hold of at the moment.

However the good news is if you have a sky dish you will be able to get a FreeSat receiver for as little as £70

  3. Hmm, not sure, sounds like you need to contact their support line.  You can probably receive it, but maybe not decode it.  Here's the Website: http://www.freesat.co.uk/index.php
