Receiving money from international bank?

my brother is going to transfer me funds from bank in ireland.

do i need to give him iban number. i bank with Nat West

  1. That would be the normal method. Your IBAN number will be printed on your bank statement - or just ask your bank for it.


  2. The IBAN number will be an abbreviation of Nat West with a couple of numbers following 4 letters although if its Northern Ireland, I dont expect you need to do it.  If you are anywhere other than UK, you will need a swift code

  3. Yes, he will need your bank details in order to make the transfer.

    Last time I looked it cost £50 to make a transfer, £25 to send the money and £25 to receive it.  The payer can choose to pay nothing, £25 or £50.

    It is cheaper to send cash by international registered post.  The Post Office Giro used to be free, but that was some time ago.
