Question:

Receiving social security disability payments?

Do you think that there are many people on social security disability that pretend to have physical and mental illnesses? How do you feel about that? Do you think that disability should be done away with and make people find a way to work through their problems? I know there are some people who really need it, but there are also alot of pretenders out there who are just too lazy to work. I just think there should be more strict requirements for obtaining disability and there should be reviews of cases more often. I doubt I will see my social security check when I retire so this just kind of makes me mad at the whole issue.

  1. Oh Yeah, you should buy your own disability insurance from ALFAC and keep the government out of the insurance business.

So when there is fraud the taxpayer does not get hosed.

And you can bet when AFLAC has fraud they find it and fix the problem, unlike the government that does not care about fraud, and only wants more people to depend on the government for their check, so they vote demorat.

  2. First, anyone on disability has to be certified by a physician.  So there are very few people on disability who are not disabled.

Granted, there are some right wing bigots that think otherwise--but no one cares what those trash think.  They are the only reason we NEED disability.  Most people whow receive disability could work--if they could get jobs. But they aren't working--not because they are lazy. Because bigots won't hire them.

So--just as long as these bigoted trash want to exclude disabled people, they can d**n well pay for it. They don't like that? That's just too d**n bad.

  3. I had 5 heart cauterization's in 4 months, the SS was sent all my records and had me go to 2 additional doctors for evaluations. I was granted full disability, You think I could handle the stress of a job?

  4. No, I don't think that at all. There are a very minor few who are 'faking it'....but the vast majority are legitimately unable to work. I have worked as a claims rep for SSA for 20+ years. I can say with absolute certainty that very few people are 'faking it'. They must submit all sorts of records and proof before applying. Then they must submit to OUR doctors and our psychiatrists to determine the extent of their disability. Just b/c they have a disability doesn't mean they get paid. They must also be proven unable to work...by OUR doctors. Further, the vast majority of them are turned down initially, despite their legitimate disability. It is standard practice to turn them down--b/c many of them will not appeal the decision. Those who do must submit to more test with more of our doctors, and then go before a judge to determine if they are legitimately disabled. Finally, we have an entire team that investigates fraud cases solely for social security disability. It is their job to determine that people are legitimately still disabled. If you see someone who is not disabled, but receiving benefits, you can simply contact the SSA and report them.
