Receiving texts from unknown person using my friends number?

For the past few weeks I've been receiving text messages from an unknown person who is using my friends mobile number to send them. These texts have been abusive and the odd one or two have had racist comments made in them. One text read in part "Its over well it is in main just few loose ends 4 those who have hurt us or ours but they'll kp 4 nw c u 2morrow xx" As it's my friends number I'm reluctant to go to the police as they may get in trouble, but I've been saving the messages to my phone. This person is sending them to someone who in turn replies based on the follow up responses I get. Yesterday I had two texts from this mystery person. What should I do? Or how do I find out where the original text is being sent from.

  1. a shy admirer?

  2. The best thing you can do is to ignore these texts your receiving.Probably some one mucking around don't think to much into it as you'll drive yourself mad.xx

  3. Maybe your friend is sending the messages thinking they are going to another person. Either that or your friend is taking the mickey if they have their phone with them all the time then just ask them what they are up too. I dont really think asking on here about what you should do is going to help ,what makes you comment that you are reluctant to go to the police that message could mean anything, unless you already suspect your friend is involved in something . Lets face it when you are with a group of friends depending on whats happening in the world the conversation can be at times a bit racist or homophobic or anti war and its the same for texts you may happily send something in a text message that you wouldnt say in a large public gathering.

  4. Go straight to this friend and check their message outbox. It could very well be them sending them.

  5. Ignore it. Maybe your friend has lost his phone, or sold it without deleting the contact numbers.

  6. Option one. Find out who has access to your friends phone  Option two has she had a recent replcement phone. ie a cloned SIM.

Option three. Your mate is a loon
