Recent poll suggests people of Minnesota in favour of gambling expansion: Horse Racing news
The state of Minnesota is considering expanding gambling facilities in the state. As with any issue of public importance, there are two strong points of view regarding this issue. However, recent opinion polls point to the fact that the people of Minnesota
are not opposed to the idea.
One such poll investigated whether the public thought that the state of Minnesota should have more racinos and casinos. More specifically, they were asked about the construction of racinos and casinos at Canterbury Park as well as Running Aces. The result
showed that for a group of five individuals, four were of the opinion that the construction should take place.
The proponents of the proposal explain the importance of the endeavour by stating that the opening up of racinos and casinos at Canterbury Park and Running Aces would create jobs. That in turn would lead to the economic well being of the people of the state
and work towards the prosperity of the economy of Minnesota as a whole. This is something that the recession-hit horse racing industry is in dire need of.
According to recent estimates, the creation of racinos and casinos at the proposed sites would generate around $ 125 million per year. Other than that, the creation of jobs that would take place would be in the figure of thousands.
It would not be just the horse racing industry that would be profiting from construction but other industries would also be able to offer more jobs as a result. The industries that would be profiting from it majorly would be the agricultural, construction
and hospitality industries.
As soon as the proposed racinos and casinos are built, they would lead to an expansion of business rapidly, as both Canterbury and Running Aces would be looking to increase the purses being offered.
However, the group of people opposed to the idea of creating more racinos and casinos base their argument on the fact that it would lead to the expansion of gambling in the state, which would threaten moral values of the community.
