Recently,my barber trimming my hair with an electric trimmer, he cut the top of my ear. Will i contract HIV?

Question

Will a skin cut, accompanied by bleeding, caused by an electric trimmer at the barber transmit HIV? What if he had previously cut someone else (infected with HIV) with the same trimmer? I am scared because i know hospitals dont reuse syringes for the same reason.

Probably not.

Most barbers clean the trimmers with an antiseptic solution between customers.  When outside the body, HIV is a very weak virus, and easy to kill.

if you barber is following proper techniques (as taught in barber school) you should have no problem.

The chance is next to nothing, even if the person had HIV, even if the person was also nicked by the razor and even if the blood was fresh (doubtful you jumped in the chair as soon as the other person was finished) the chance of you getting HIV would be about .03%.  Factor in the fact that only about 1 in 300 people have HIV and the blood would have been dry by the time you got in the chair, you have a far better chance of dying in a car crash, so buckle up and don't worry!!

You cannot get HIV from the scenario that you described. HIV is only transmitted by unprotected s*x, from mother to child and from sharing IV for durgs. Your risk is non-existent. Put this behind you and move on with your life.

Remember that everything is possible. In science nothing is 100%. But in your case, then chance is so low to be considered. If that is the case, you should not even think about it. What is the chance of getting hit by a lightening? it is too low to be considered. You do not have fear of getting hit by lightening when you go out in the morning. But is it possible? yes possible but the possibility is too low to be considered. Same concept applies here.

well if he is a negligent barber and cut off someone Else's ear seconds before who had hiv then didn't clean it then yes you will contract it. but i doubt anyone is that stupid.
