  1. Ingram doesn't publish their rates so unless someone with experience answers, your question is left to conjecture.  With more than 30 years in the Offshore industry I would say this type of job, taking you away from home for 28 day periods, normally pays at least twice what a 40 hour/week, semi-skilled worker would receive.

The work is demanding, http://www.ingrambarge.com/default.aspx?... but the experience can be rewarding.  It would also qualify you to get am Ordinary Seaman's Certificate which is the first step toward a Maritime career.

    Good Luck!!!

  2. I worked as a deckhand for a fleet company in the 1980's. We worked 14 days on and 7 days off. I got paid $58 a day. The towboat crews that I talked to worked 30 days on and 15 days off and said they got paid a little over twice as much. I know it's been a long time ago, but it should be comparable to any other starting laborer position. Be prepared to be away from home for a period of time.
