  1. It's not a bad idea.

There are many things that can go wrong with backs so seeing people with similar conditions can help in the sense that the more people you interact with, the more chance of getting appropriate and helpful advice.

And, if for nothing else, you will most likely meet people in a worse position then yourself...that can be an inspiration in itself.

Look after yourself: you only have one back.

  2. I had back surgery 5 years ago and after mine I talked to many people that volunteered their experiences after they spotted my walker.

I found out that most people don't have great results and almost all of us have some shortcoming after surgery.

I am one of the lucky ones because going in I had just recently found God and so I was comported and not in any fear of the outcome because I know that if He was with me then after it was over He would still be with me and if it wasn't on earth it would be OK.

I also was in excruciating pain going in and none coming out save the pain of surgery which was dulled by drugs and soon gone.

Thirdly; I had damage to my spine that did not fully heal after surgery, but since the pain was gone and my faith was strong, I knew I could and have been able to live with a numb leg and a little unsure footedness.(last week that foot rolled on me when I was stepping down and I broke my ankle.) At least God waited till  I retired a few months ago so I don't have to call in sick.
