  1. DO NOT use your hazard lights in the fog,  that's a great way to get yourself or others killed.  Keep your head lights on low beam, Turn down all distractions in the car.  If you can, Roll your window down about a inch and a half to hear any horns or skidding sounds.  Keep your eyes moving, if you stare into the fog for long periods, you'll get tunnel vision and won't react to hazards as quickly.  If it's at night time, turn your dash lights down (Not off) to cut down on the glare.  If there are Truckers on the road, get in behind one, But don't tailgate or try to peak around him, your lights peaking around his trailer will make it more difficult for him to see.   If there is something in the road, the truck will take the hit and more than likely keep you from being killed or injured.

  2. When driving in a fog you should always use your Low headlight beams (dim lights).

Use your horn and turn on your hazard lights to make yourself visible to others.

Slow down because most fog-related traffic fatalities occur because someone was driving too fast and couldn't stop in time to avoid a collision.

Use your wipers and defroster to keep the windows clear.

Turn off the radio and turn down the heater. Listen for other cars.

  3. First off do not use your brights it will only make it worse.  Without making any modifications to your car the only other advice I have is to keep an eye on the white line to your right and if there is no white line the edge of the road, this will keep you on the road if the fog is really bad.  Also slow down as much as needed so you don't out pace you headlights.  If you want to modify your car you can also have driving/fog lights installed.  These lights are lower to the ground and will help you see in the fog.  Well I hope this will help.  Good luck.

  4. Sounds like it had your full attention, anyway. So yeah, being careful, but don't stop, you will just create hazard for the person behind you.

  5. turn the flashers (emergency flashers) on if you slow down so people comming up from behind have a better chance to see you early, don't jump on the brakes or stop in the road though.

  6. Do what imthevoi said and find the first safe place, service station, rest area, etc, and get off the road. When you slow down, you will inevitably get rear ended thus causing a massive pile-up all due to the fog.

  7. DONT turn on your hazard lights.

    DONT turn on your brights.

DO turn on fog lights if you have them.

    DO slow down.

  8. Yes, Turn on your Fog lamps. DO NOT turn on your Hazard lights. They are not meant for use on a moving car, only for a stalled or slow moving hazard causing vehicle.

drive slower but get off quickly into a rest stop or a fuel station until it is safe. Do not carry on driving slowly in the fog. There will be some hollenhead barreling down the road at top speed ready to smash into your rear and send you catapulting  on into the highway to thy kingdom come,

Remember that dumb guy speeding, and get out off his merry way.
