I just started going commando, Is this okay?

i honestly don't know what you mean.

i'm a combat vet.   if a friend told me he'd gone commando, i'd knock him out cold and get him medical care

a commando is someone who protects the innocent, who defends those who can't defend themselves, who is like the batman character, defends those who are too weak to defend themselves

when you write this i wonder if you have a clue what being a man is.

its fine in fact it might be a good thing because more air will get to youre private area which will help prevent rashes and ifection. A word of advice though , if i were you i would use an unscented corn starch base powder this will help prevent any chaffing and it will make that area feel smooth ..

It's really no big deal.

I prefer boxer briefs myself, as I feel it's cleaner and I don't like the jewels flopping around all over the place.

(Others call theirs junk; I call mine jewels!!)

YUP! I do also, works fine for me.

Of course there are occasions where you can't always....Trying on clothes that way would be considered 'unsanitary' or being measured for Alterations (Taking on and off your pants) but, otherwise it's FINE!!

Underwear is about protection, support, and above all hygiene. Besides keeping your tenders from hanging and bouncing around when you move, underwear is suppose to catch sweat, urine drops and other body fluids that in turn could promote bacterial growth and give you a nasty rash; and then your "commando" becomes MIS. (missing in acction).

It's ok, but realize that this may not be appropriate for all situations.  You don't want to be in a situation where you accidentally expose yourself.  If you'll be participating in athletic activities, you'll need to wear appropriate support.  In my personal experience, I've never had a [problem with chafing or such by going commando.

of course it's ok, it's not like the underwear police are gonna arrest you, if you are comfy without undies go for it, the only real purpose of underwear is so that pants didn't have to be washed as often

Yes, I'm sure this is okay, but be aware that your genitals aren't as protected as before, so make sure you don't injure them. You can also chafe on your p***s since it'll be brushing the lining of your pants. Other than that, I'm sure there's nothing wrong with it. Hope this helps.
