at first i thought it was the discs ,then i thought it was my optical lens because when i play back the movies they were jumping or freezing.

so i try them on my ps3 and on my other dvd player and they all play fine without trouble, but when i play them on other certain dvd players they freeze or jump as if the discs are scratched,so iam wondering could it be certain dvd players??

but like i said they work fine on my dvd player and ps3

  1. It sounds like you have isolated the problem to certain DVD players. Now, why they are not playing is the issue. It's not likely a scratch or dirt issue since they play fine on some players. Therefore it's probably the specific player(s) that's the problem.

Note that it could be an alignment problem (which should be fixable) in the player or simply that the laser is getting weak (typical lifetime is about 5 years ... but it varies with use/model). Unless the player cost more than $100 it's probably not worth getting it fixed since servicing it may be more costly than a new player. And from the sound of it your players are fine ... the problem is in someone else's machine(s), so I guess s/he will have to decide.
