KNOW HOW TO SOLICIT SPONSORS.HAS ANYONE STARTED THEIR OWN WEB BASED BUSINESS?AND IF SO,HOW DID YOU GET IT OFF THE GROUND?

If you educate yourself on social media marketing this would be a good starting point as it is usually low budget and very effective. You should also have your site optimized for the search engines so that your audience will find you easier.

There are some very good answers so far. I would also suggest some social networking

Contribute in blogs and forums. Make sure you have a good signature file with your links in it. Neither of these will allow you to advertise outright, but you can have a sig file and some blogs will allow you to put links in your comments and posts.

Answer questions in here, quality answers, not junk. That helps build credibility as well.

Write articles and get them published online in places like ezine articles.

You want to make sure that your site is optimized for the content you are providing.  This will result in people buying the products you choose to promote on your website.

You need to make sure that you are bringing the type of traffic to your website that would have an interest in anything you might be selling.

You definitly want to make sure to submit your site to as many directories as possible.  You can submit your site for free in hundreds of directories.  To find them, simply search for "Submit my site for free" or some other similiar term and you will see the results.

Most important, choose affiliate programs that will convert and have a high payout!

tell your friends and family about it. If your site is good, then it will catch on and people will keep coming back. If it's not good, it will not get anywhere.

First you need to set your site up to be indexed by Google . To do so go to Google webmaster tools and add your

site and verify it with a meta tag they provide. Then go to

http://www.xml-sitemaps.com/ and enter your website address. The generator with create free site maps for your site. download all the sitemaps sitemap.xml, sitemape.ror, sitemape.html and urlist.txt.

Upload them all to your server and click the "Add a Sitemap" link at Google and use General and add the sitemap.xml. In about twenty minutes Google will approve or not approve the sitemap. If you followed my suggestions it will be approved.

Then Click on the business solutions link at Google.com and sign up for adsense which places ads on your site and pays you money when someone clicks on it.

Next place ads for your products on free classified ads like craigslist.com and topix.com.
