Question:

Reception center pieces?

First of all, I've finally picked out a cake! Thank you to everyone who helped me when I last posted my frantic plea about finding the perfect cake!

Here is what I'm going with http://www.maisiefantaisie.co.uk/pale-bl...

Of course, it will be white instead of blue, red fresh roses, and black detail work. I'm excited.

But...:(

I still can't come up with centerpieces and other reception decor. I have round tables that seat 8-9. They are covered with white linens. I can't get any other linens due to price. They do have black cloth napkins that they said that some people lay out under the centerpiece to make a black square, for color.

Other than that, I'm stuck. We're going with mostly black and white with red accents. I don't want to have to purchase anything too crazy (vase or container-wise) because if it's something simple, I can look around and hopefully find it somewhere for cheap!

  1. you can always get a fish bowl and put live fish in the bowl...cut a deal with the fish store that you will return the fish after the wedding....

  2. I suggest short cut red roses places in small bowl vases. A great place for vases is Dollar Tree Direct - check thei vases and thei candle holders. A friend used their square glass candle holder and they looked awesome. You'd neve guess they were $1 each

  3. Do some vases with red/white/black rocks or pebbles in them with flowers that match.

  4. In a wedding magazine I saw a unique twist on the traditional flowers in vase centerpiece in which the vase was black and the flowers were white.  it would look great with red flowers too though.  I think that'd be something neat to try: black vases instead of white or clear.

  5. What we are doing is really really cheap, because the hotel actually provides it, but we were planning on doing this anyway. You can buy those square mirrors, then a hurricane globe with a candle in it, a few votives around. Then we bought fake petals that have words on them like "love" "forever" "passion." We are sprinkling those around as well as real flower petals. I figure it's good enough & cheap. I figure no one will remember the centerpieces anyway! :)

    Good luck!

  6. Why not do some floating candles and then scatter red rose petals around them? I think that would look nice.

I am sure that you could recreate something like this at a low cost:

    Or maybe something like this:

I am sure you can find a lot of supplies at the dollar store. You can also try Oriental Trading Company and Save-on-Crafts.com - they have lots of supplies for a great price

  7. My friend bought small glass bowls at the dollar store and filled them with water with a couple floating candles and red rose petals. Very cheap and very elegant!

  8. A collection of white pillar candles and a few red rose petals would be easy.

  9. I think a shallow bowl or maybe a short vase with black rocks/pebbles (but not cheesy looking) with red rose petals floating. That would be cute and simple. And depending on the time of year your wedding is, if its in winter and your going for a darker tone and the reception site is dark then go with the floating candles.

Our colors were brown and white and a little dark purple (sounds weird but it was beautiful). Anyways, we had wine bottles with white orchids in them. It was awesome. (We took off all the labels on the bottles and put a strip of fabric and lace) We got so many compliments.
