(1)How to check/test usability a rechargable battery.I have a 3year old condemned PANASONIC (LC-R127R2CH; 12V,7.2Ah; Constant Voltage Charge) rechargeable lead acid batteries. How & Where do I reCycle the same or gain/benefit by disposing the same.How can large rated 100AH & greater lead acid and tubular batteries be recycled. Any body/setup like www.rbrc.org, here in India.(2)What are the evolving & environmentally benign rechargeable battery technologies of the 21st Century.

  1. In the US, dealers who sell PbA batteries are required to take back old batteries for proper disposal.  In many cases, you receive a "core credit" which acknowledges the lead value in the spent battery.


  2. it is written on the manufacture cover so dont damage or open the battery or check battery

  3. Contact your hazardous waste disposal center.

  4. Test lead acid battery health using  hydrometer (avalable from car parts dealers/garages) to show the specific gravity of the acid.

    Any metal or battery dealer will recycle the lead. They are worth a lot.

    There is such a demand (=high price) that people are stealing it from roofs etc.

    Lead acid is easy to recycle.

    Most other technologies are recyled by car makers, see Toyota site. main types being NiMH & Li-ion.

    NiCadmium can give environmental problems  if not properly recycled, but is not common in cars.
