tomato gravy can be anything from a simple tomato sauce or marinara, to something simmered for hours with lots of meats and sausages. Regions and cultures are different.

I have an interesting recipe for you.  Put a can of stewed tomatoe's (Italian works) in a pot.  Add one can of tomato sauce.  Mix & heat well then thicken it with corn starch.  Pour over your stuffed peppers or meat  loaf as a sauce.  Different  but tasty....
