Recieving grants?

now that i am going to recieve grants for financial aid, when do i get the money? will i have enough time to buy my books and laptop before school starts? do they send me a check and i put it in my bank account? im confused! all help regarding financial aid and grants will be appreciated!

like she said, the money goes to your school.  

IF you have any left over after your tuition, books, fees, dorm, meal plan etc are paid for you will (or sometimes your parents - depending on the loan) will get the difference.  

Usually the money is given out AFTER the semester starts... some times weeks and weeks after the semester starts depending on how early you turned in your paperwork.

This is a good book about fin aid and the processes.  Don't forget you must apply for fin aid every year.

Grants are usually sent to your school. After all your tuition and fees are covered, you will receive a refund check for the balance. The refund check usually takes a couple months. You will only get a refund check if your grants cover your tuition and there is money left over.
