Question:

Recipe exchange party ideas?

I'd like to host a party where I ask my guests to bring along a recipe to exchange with each other.

What is the best way to do this so that all my guests go home with everyone else's recipes? If I have 8 people - I'd like each person to take home 8 recipes.

I do have a copier.

Any other ideas for this kind of party or similar would be appreciated.

  1. Ask them to submit a recipe to you before the party.  Make copies and then put them in a little binder, or punch a hole in them and tie them with a ribbon.

Divide up the guests and have them bring certain courses of the meal.  If you have 8 people, have 2 bring appetizers or salad, 2 bring side dishes, etc.  Whatever dish they are preparing is the recipe they should submit to you.

My friend belongs to a dinner club where each month a different person hosts (there are 8 of them).  The host chooses a theme.  It can be a certain cuisine, foods that all begin with the same letter of the alphabet, all soups, whatever.  The host assigns who brings which course.

  2. Find some good used baskets..like at goodwill or another second hand store...put some ribbon or a pretty bow on them. Make copies of each recipe when the guest bring them, then put one in each basket. Make sure each guest takes one from each basket. Also you may want to have a pretty fruit bowl full of fruit as a center piece.  Maybe during the party..guest would be willing to share their worst kitchen or cooking disaster. Or they may have a kitchen/cooking tip they would like to share. They might have some shortcuts they'd like to mention about the way they prepare or store foods. You could also go to a dollar store and buy some kitchen gadgets (each 1 different) ..bag clips, fridge magnets, utensils etc.and wrap them to give out as door prizes. If you're going to be using paper plates just write a number on the bottom of a few of them. Then when you're ready just call out a number. I think it's nice that you are having a recipe party. Good luck and enjoy.

Thinking up these ideas for yours makes me want to have one soon.

  3. What you could do is have your guest's to make their favorite dish and write the recipe to it and make copies.  That way they can taste it and have the recipe.
