Question:

Recipe for the chili-pup chili at Krystals?

I have tried almost every chili sauce recipe I have found online, including a Coney Island copy-cat recipe which, was way too sweet. Krystals chili-pup chili is not sweet at all. It's not very tomato-y either and their chili is bean-less. One ingredient I am certain of, is cumin. lt may come prepared so if any Krystals employees who may be reading this know the brand name, that would be fantastic!!

  1. This has got to be it, or at least close to it.  You can leave out the jalapenos and add water until you get the texture you desire.  It's from a social-networking site based around sharing recipes.  How cool is that?

    Ingredients:

    ground beef

bush baked beans honey & brown sugar,1-2 large cans

    1- med. onion-diced

    4-5 tablespoons chili powder

    1-tsp-ground red pepper

1-2 large cans tomatoe sauce-do not use water in chili

4-6 jalapeno slices (optional) -more can be used depends on your taste

    2-large tomatoes- diced

    2-tablespoons brown sugar

    2-tsp.honey

    Directions :

Put ground beef in large pan add enough water to cover. Bring meat & water to a boil,  stiring to loosen meat. When meat is done drain all water off.

Put the above ingrediences in with meat & cook. The longer you cook the chili the better it tastes.

One last thing I would change is how the beef was prepared.  Although my Mom always boils it, I prefer to cook the beef in a very hot cast iron skillet until it is almost carmalized, then I drain the excess fat off.  It's actually the drippings that really adds to the flavor.

Good Luck, and hope you enjoy this recipe.  Oh, by the way, I was at the market today and saw "small dogs" by Oscar Mayer in a yellow pouch.  They would be perfect for coney dogs.
