Question:

Recipe help?

I am attempting to eat a low-sugar, low-fat, vegetarian diet this summer. Unfortunately for my grand plans, my parents do not share this ambition and my 40 hour a week job with irregular hours makes prep time hard to come by.

So the question: I need easy-to-make (I have limited kitchen experience) recipes. I'll take either links to helpful websites or your personal favorites.

Thanks so much!

  1. granola bars

  2. Chili, bean salads, pasta salads, pasta with sauce, veggie salads, veggie spreads, bean spreads, sandwiches, cold cereal, fresh fruit.

Take a couple of hours when you have them to make a big pot of beans each week. You can use them all week. Mash them up with dressing to make a delicious bean spread or dip. Toss them on salads. Throw them into pasta salads.

Basically, the best thing to do for yourself is to cook less frequently in larger quantities. No problem!

    Good luck to you.

  3. my favorites are simple-refried beans on a tortilla with salsa is a really quicky that i eat at least six times a week; sauteed veggies (any vegetable works and sautee in extra virgin olive oil, and i get the supercheap generic stuff at the dollar tree) and long grain and wild rice; salads with garbanzos and lentils thrown in are super yummy; "italian" pasta salad-i make mine with any noodle i find, then chop up any veggies that i have handy, then add a little italian dressing and then the main flavor i put in is some extra virgin olive oil, vinegar, and then whatever herbs that i like.

really you can make anything you like be low-sugar and low-fat. one thing you could do is look up easy lowfat veg. recipes on the internet.
