Reckless Abandon expected to make a comeback in Temple Stakes – Horseracing news
Reckless Abandon is likely to return to action in the Betfred Temple Stakes, which is scheduled to be held on Saturday, May 25, 2013.
The talented challenger debuted last year and proved to one of the most promising runners back then. He was not considered to be a major threat to some of his rivals, but managed to overcome them comfortably every time he stepped onto a racing track.
The three-year-old colt first came onto the scene in May last year and entered the Maiden Auction Stakes with a starting price of 6 to 1. He displayed extremely good speed and finished on top of the table by a comfortable margin of two lengths.
Since then, Reckless Abandon has participated in four more races and the results have been positive for him each time. He has never been defeated in his career until now, which is quite an impressive thing. Although he has just appeared in five events, yet
one can clearly tell that he is a quality performer.
However, the Clive Cox’s trainee might be a touch rusty at the moment, as he has been out of action for quite some time. He last raced in October 2012, but did not look fit enough to his team afterwards, which has prevented him from any horseracing action
during the ongoing season.
Things are looking to get better for him though and Cox stated, “He's clearly strengthened again but we've done enough sensible work to tell us that his whole approach and attitude are suited to speed.”
It will be interesting to see whether Reckless Abandon manages to continue his winning streak, especially when he is going against some seasoned stallions like Sole Power, Kingsgate Native and Tangerine Trees.
All three of them are seen as top contenders for winning the Betfred Temple Stakes, but they will have to weather the storm from their young rival, who has outperformed each of his opponents until now.
The bookies have not really made up their mind on deciding the favourite of the event, but they might have to go with someone like Sole Power, who appears to be in good form at the moment.
