Reckless Abandon likely to go for King's Stand Stakes – Horseracing News
Reckless Abandon is likely to take part in the King's Stand Stakes at Ascot. He was earlier lined up for the Diamond Jubilee Stakes at the same venue but his camp has decided to go for the former option.
According to trainer Clive Cox, “Reckless Abandon will probably be going for the King's Stand. We have kept him in the Diamond Jubilee to keep our options open, but I think a stiff five furlongs will suit him
better.”
He added, “He ran a great race in the Temple Stakes and has come out of the race very well. I am very pleased with him and he stands a good chance.”
No matter which event Reckless Abandon takes part in, he will certainly attract the most number of bets from the punters. He has got a terrific record and his rivals will not find it easy to defeat him.
The three-year-old colt debuted in 2012 and proved to be one of the most promising runners of that season. He stayed unbeaten throughout the year and gained plenty of respect amongst his rivals. However, the
start to this year did not prove to be a good one for him, as his winning streak was eventually broken.
Despite that, the talented stallion did not give up easily and fought hard for a third place overall. He has got five victories to his name other than that, which shows that he has the ability to deliver the
goods with consistency.
All of Reckless Abandon’s opponents in the Diamond Jubilee Stakes will be pleased to hear that he is going to miss that event, as that will allow some of the other runners to make a name for themselves.
On the other hand, the stallions lined up for action in the King's Stand Stakes will now have to be at their best in order to give a tough time to Cox’s trainee.
At the moment, Shea Shea is rated as the favourite to succeed in the five-furlong race. His record is a good one but he will now have to be extremely careful. The South African stallion has won six out of eight
races until now, which shows that he possesses the skills to match someone like Reckless Abandon.
