Reckless driving ticket in VA

I had a reckless ticket in VA on route 267 ....i was 82/55 when cop cought me ........i had no points prior to this with virginia licese as shows on my driving record ...i have the court case on sept 4th ...can any one sugeest me if i sud hire a attorney ?? i am also planning to take defense course before going to court is tht fine ?

You'd spend more money hiring a lawyer than it would be to pay a ticket.  Anything over 80mph is considered reckless.  You may want to call the courts to find out how much to pay.  I believe it is a certain amount per mile you were over.  Taking a driving course before hand doesn't sound like a bad idea.  Maybe the judge will be nice and drop it to improper driving.  I'm a VA resident, but I've never had a reckless ticket.  Good luck.  Oh, and you will get positive points for taking a class.  You can do it online, which I've done before.  You need a credit card and they will mail you a certificate of completion that you bring to the court clerk to put in your records.

  2. You were going almost 30 miles over the speed limit. Do you not think that was reckless? You got what you deserved. Suck it up and pay the ticket. Live and learn.
