  1. You can get all kids of recoil pads from such places as www.midwayusa.com, www.brownells.com or www.misdouthshooterssuply.com.

All recoil pads will need to be fit to the contours of the rifle butt.  The way I fit a pad to a rifle or shotgun is to remove the old pad and use as a pattern to trace around a piece of 1/8 inch aluminum sheet metal.  I grind the sheet metal to the lines that I scribed and then carefully file them until they exactly match the contour of the rifle butt.  I mark and drill the s***w holes from the old recoil pad.  Then I carefully fit it to the rifle butt to make sure that everything lines up perfectly.  Next I take the aluminum pattern and attach it to the new pad.  I use an air tool with a grinding pad to grind the new recoil pad  to the contours of the pattern stopping just shy of the edge of the pattern.  I then turn to sand paper and carefully work the new recoil pad to the exact fit of the pattern.  I then put a buffing wheel on my air tool and buff the edges to a high shine.  Finally, I s***w the new pad to the butt of the rifle making sure that the edges line up exactly with the sides of the rifle butt.

If you try to make the new recoil pad fit by attaching it to the rifle butt and then grinding it down to match, you will mess up the finish on your rifle and it will be extremely hard to repair

  2. midway usa has all that info and more

  3. Yes you can!  It is not hard at all to do, and the complete instructions can be found here:

    http://www.shootingtimes.com/gunsmithing...

Almost every gun parts dealer sells recoil pads.  I buy mine from Midway:

I am particularly fond of the Limbsaver and Pachmayr brands.

  4. I'm a little lost here. Unless you purchase those "s***w-on" or "slip-on" pads, all recoil pads I've seen need to be fitted.
