  1. Energy drinks are all bad. I don't recommend any of them.

  2. energy drinks are a bad idea...

i know a girl who died last year because she was drinking energy drinks so that she could stugy more for high school exams - and she collapsed due to heart complications caused by the energy drinks she was consuming - she died 5 mins before the ambulance could get there..

another reason you shouldn't be having energy drinks especially for the reasons you stated is that it may give you a brief buzz.. but then you go back down.. thats why so many people are addicted...

  6. How much coffee do you drink in a day?

First make sure you get enough sleep. There is no replacement and we cannot take anything to fix it.

Next get enough water. Water can increase our energy and motabolism by 3% each day. We need 1 ounce for every 2 pounds of body weight and 8 more for every 20 minutes of exercise. With hot/dry days and climates we need even more.

We can get some from food and othe drinks. However, caffeine and alcohol actually dehydrate so they don't count towards water intake.

Next try a good quality supplement. With vitamins the old saying you get what you pay for is very true. Most available in the stores are not worth the money you pay for them. Proper nutrition can only be done with supplementing and will also increase our energy levels. An extra supplement of a multi B complex is good for energy too.

Now if you still want an energy drink I would recommend a healthy one. XS Energy, or the store bought types of 5 Hour Energy or Stacker's 6 Hour Power are the three I suggest.

Between the energy drinks and coffee make sure not to get more than 300 mg of caffeine a day. Coffee starts at 85 mg and energy drinks have between 80 and 85. If not offset with extra water the caffeine dehydrates us which makes us tired. When we get tired most people think the thing to do is to take more caffeine. That just compounds the problem. It can be what you are experiencing with a few good days then bad.

I can make some more recommendations and help you get some good products if you ask about them.

  7. There's no fast fix to your tiredness. I had the same problem for years. Then I went off the pill, improved my diet (regualr nutritious meals and took supplements (fish oil, multi-vitamins, zinc). My life has been transformed - I feel so much happier and more energetic, instead of tired and depressed. I know you want an easy solution, but if you are serious about changing the way you feel, it takes effort and time :) And NOT caffeine - that makes it worse!!!

  8. Good energy drinks: Monster (lo-carb) and red bull sugar free.

But... I think there is more going on here than just needing to find energy supplements.  How often do you work out? I find that a light jog can really boost my energy, and my mood.  Exercising is one of the best ways to do both and feel better overall, it can change many things for the better.

Are you getting to bed at a decent time, and getting plenty of sleep?

You say you feel depressed and weak often?  There might also be something else going on than just being tired, you might want to have some bloodwork done, sometimes it can be something small that can make you feel weak, like blood sugar..etc.  You should talk to your doctor if you feel like your depression gets worse, because sometimes changing things in your life or if need be getting on medication can make a world of a difference.

Using energy supplements, even relying on coffee can make you more tired because it is all addictive to your body.

Analyze your life style, what makes you more tired , less tired, what changes your mood, or when you feel depressed.  Then talk to someone or try some natural things like exercise!  Not the same thing works for everyone, so you just have to get a little help sometimes :)
