Question:

Recommend a Decent and economic Hotel near Termini in Rome, Italy?

I will visit Rome with wife and 2 kids (6 yr & 7 yr) in July. On internet, many hotels offer quadruple rooms in my budget range, i.e., 100 EUR (+/-) per night. But when I read reviews in tripadvisor.com, I was horrified (leaking baths, smelly rooms, pathetic breakfast and so on). Can some one experinced to have stayed in Rome, Italy suggest a decent hotel near Termini within my budget range?

  1. Hello,

It depends on how long you are going to stay and when.  How many days are going to be in Rome? What are the days? It would be more helpful to know these things.  July is high season so the prices  will be high.

I was in Rome recently.  We stayed in a little apartment near the Termini station.  It is run by the Crosti Hotel.  A 5 minute walk from the station. We really loved it.  I find this to be a very good solution for a family of four.  The metro is close by and   there is a little supermarket near by so you can buy things for picnic lunches and dinners to save on the cost of eating in Rome.  A great place to return to after the kids are tired of walking and take a nap. Plenty of privacy. Sure you can go out to eat if you want at night, but if the kids are tired and you are tired then why not prepare something in the apartment.

The apartment has a bedroom and then a sofa bed so the four of you can sleep comfortably.  There is also a nice big terrace where you can relax and read a book or have dinner on in the evening. There is also a washer where you can wash your clothes and a place dry them.

    Check http://www.expedia.com

The price of the apartment is $141. That is a great price considering the period and the city.

The apartment is available from July 22nd to July 26th for this price.

If you can give me more detailed information I can help you further... the dates of your stay in Rome would be helpful. I have stayed in Rome many times on a budget.

(At some places in Rome, it is possible to order a half portion of pasta (but not for half price) )

*** Always visit the bathrooms in the local restaurants before you leave. They are usually very clean and are free of charge. I always make this a point on my trips to use them.
