Starting from Judaism, Catholicism, Roman Catholicism, Protestants, Islam, Shiite Sect of Islam, Sunni Sect of Islam. Preferentially in chronological order. I am atheist and want to know in more depth what all the fuss is about.

  1. Professor Jacob Neusner's book, "Judaism in Transition: from philosophy to religion" is the only book to deal  with the transition of Abraham's philosophies transformation to religion by syncretization   with the Baal Religion.  Syncretized: to attempt to unite and harmonize especially without critical examination or logical unity.

  2. History of God, by Karen Armstrong. It's about the Abrahamic religions (Judaism, Christianity, & Islam). I'm sure she has other books too. I think Dr. John Esposito had some interesting books, especially about Islam & different sects of Islam.
