  1. I am a former chef who worked in Toronto for many years, my best recommendation is depending on where you live, but for me either Chinatown is good for Asian food, Chinese or Vietnamese, Thai is open to but there more spread out, I like the Bangkok Garden on Elm St or the Green Mango, for Japaneses food Ah-So on Church St, Nami on Richmond at Duncan.

My suggestion is to find out what is available in your area or section of town, use the Restaurant guides and Toronto Life Magazine does a yearly rating magazine in the fall, and there also is the YellowPages City Pages, under the Bars and Restaurants section, just choose the All Cuisines tab and it will give you a selection, scroll down to the Japanese and take a look at the reviews.

Most of the places are very clean, well run and reasonably priced, it all depends on the type of food and number of people dining.

  2. I love going to Thai-one-on, Pi-Tom and Green Mango...I think the best value for money would be Pi-Tom on Yonge north of College/Carlton!!!

However any place in DT Toronto is expensive at night (dinner)...so I would suggest going for lunch for the specials.

  3. I know you are asking for Canada, but if you ever come to Colorado try Tomo Sushi.  I love it!

  4. Mandarin is definitely the best

  5. Salad King at Yonge & Dundas (Downtoen Toronto) has the BEST Thai food I've tasted :-)
