Recommend a good adoption detective or Private Investigator in NYC or LI?

My best friend is searching for his birth family in New York. Can someone recommend a good private investigator or adoption detective. He was born 1970.

I would tell him to get all the info that he can get on them and try to do it himself.  My husband was born in 1970 also and he was also adopted and here in Canada it is really hard to get any info.  We called tons of P.I's and it is really sad on how much they wanted to try to find his birth family and they said that it would take 2 years.  At that time I was off work and I asked him if he minded if I tryed to look and he did not mind at all.  Within 3 months I found his birth mom and the family.  If he has a few extra hours a week that is what I would tell him to do.  As in Canada to start the P.I wanted 10,000.  I thinkl that it is sad that people charge so much to find a lost loved one.  Now that I am a P.I I help people to find there lost loved ones.
