Question:

Recommend a good ski resort?

I turn 29 next September and am thinking of taking a year out of my mundane working life to spend season at a ski resort. I spent a season at Whistler a few years back and had the time of my life, and feel like doing it again. I was perhaps thinking of somewhere in Europe this time, since I come from England. Somewhere with great nightlife, in addition to great terrain is a must!

Any recommendations? Your help would be greatly appreciated.

  1. Steamboat Springs, CO.

    Park City, UT

    Alta, UT

    Snowbird, UT

    Winterpark, CO

I have heard of places British Colombia, Canada has some great skiing.

  2. If nightlife is what you're looking for then Whistler is no doubt unparalleled.  Plus as you know, the mountains are slammin'.  There are plenty of great resorts in Tahoe and the South shore nightlife is sick, however, the North shore is kinda boring.  As for Utah, don't discount it, Park City has a good nightlife and even though Alta/Snowbird/Solitude are on the other side of the canyon, the snow and the terrain can't be beat.  I love them all for different reasons.  Hope this helps!

  3. with the value of the dollar (assuming your paycheck is in USD not Euros or pounds)  i would recommend staying in the U.S - Steamboat Springs is awesome as is Lake Tahoe.

    & avoid UTAH

  4. go to montgenevre in southurn france. Its gr8.

    www.montgenevre.com

  5. well utah has the best snow on earth. i recoment the canyons.

my favorite place to go is brighton though.

  6. St. Anton Austria, or St. Moritz Switzerland, both have extreme terrain and 300 inches of annual snow. But the greatest place to ski is Colorado. Greatest snow on earth. Preferably Steamboat where the snow is so dry that it is "Champagne Powder" you cant get it anywhere else in the world.

  7. ya in eden utah there is really good snow and its fun the resort is called powder mountain

  8. I have not been to any European resorts.  So my answers will be slightly biased.  But dollar is cheap now.  Staying in the States will cost you less money.

I recommand Vail area in CO, Lake Tahoe area (Heavenly or Squaw).  Those place have both good skiing and great night life.

People mentioned Utah.  Utah has great snow, but no nightlife.  You can not even get a really good drink there.

Hope it helps.  Good Luck and Have fun.

  9. Chamonix, France. You haven't skied until you've skied Chamonix. That's a fact. Best lift service. Ever.
