Hey guys, my best friend's birthday is coming up and I really want to take her to a nice, chic restaurant downtown. She is turning 18 so some place modern and geared toward a younger crowd would be best. It doesn't even have to be geared to a younger crowd just as long as it's not stuffy or a place where older people stare at you when you walk in, if you know what I mean lol!

    happy birthday to your friend!

  2. My favourite restaurant in Toronto is in the BCE Place, right on Front Street beside Union Station, in the Canada Trust Towers - ground floor; called Marche's.  They make any type of food you want at different little stations throughout.  The atmosphere is amazing and so is the food.  Especially the bakery! Yum!

  3. i am suggesting a spanish resto.....flamingo at little italy, bathurst and college i think. great food, salsa tutorials for an hour and all nite dancing after.

  4. Honestly, I'm not a very "chic" person, but my "chic" girlfriends go to Lula Lounge. It's a Latin club/restaurant. People of all ages are accepted, but if you're under 19 you have to go with a "family member" who is 19 or older. If you're throwing her a birthday party, Lula is the place to go - on Fridays and Saturdays they have fun salsa lessons, so you can be (somewhat!) prepared on the dance floor.

If her birthday is between June 1st and September 21st, and you have party of 7 people and you get the dinner/dance packages, then all your meals will be complimentary.

Check out the Lula Lounge website, it has its menu there:

And yep, it's both classy and friendly towards the younger scene.

Other than that, you'll probably want to check out the Queen St. West neighbourhood, and a little south of that, Richmond. It has a lot of lounges and restaurants that are well-suited to a young crowd, but beware if she's 18 - since that means some places will boot you out for not being 19.

You could also check out Little Italy: it's full of modern, classy restaurants, and since it focuses on the food, you don't have to worry about her age. After a delicious meal, you can go and get some gourmet gelato ice cream or desserts and coffee. There are so many places there you can just walk around and go into one! Check it out:

The thing is, most places in the downtown area aren't stuffed with old, annoyed-looking people...it's usually in the range from teens to 28-year-olds, I find. So I think you should be okay!

If you're worried and you don't want to get embarrassed, call the restaurant and say you're considering having a party there and you want to know what the age group is of people who usually go to the restaurant. They'll be happy to tell you!

  5. go to the restaurant on top of the CN tower.  There is nothing better than being on top of the world

  6. I think the restuarant is called Babur it is an Indian resturant on Queen West almost next to the CityTV/Much Music Building.

  7. Trust me on this one.  Take her to the French Restaurant Auberge De Pommier at Yonge and Lawrence.  She will love you like crazy after that!  Its a romantic French restaurant with great food. All I ask for is - 10 points!

  8. Fred's Not Here.  Nice bar downstairs too.  If they stare upstairs, go downstairs.

  9. The Pickle Barrel is great.  Their underground dining room is really modern with private booths as well as large round tables for groups.  Its downtown TO at Yonge and Dundas across from the Eaton Centre.

    (and the food is great!)
