    1651 Restaurant, Market Place, Cirencester

    Dining in 1651 - Cirencester

The high street “1651” bars and brassiere-style restaurant opened in 2001.

It is named after that moment in time when Charles II, defeated at the Battle of Worcester, spent a night hiding from Cromwell’s in these buildings on his flight to ultimate exile in France. He regained the throne in 1660.

Chris Bowlers's fine monochrome photographs adorn the walls; they were taken during the National Trust's 350th anniversary re-enactment of the 17th century events.

The bar area retains the "feel" of its Georgian origins, with original mouldings and decorative motifs highlighted in traditional colours. The ambience in the dining room is achieved by an inspired fusion of medieval-style colours and continental eclecticism in fixtures and fittings.

Here you can choose from an imaginative a la carte menu that reflects the vibrant colours, evocative aromas and fresh tastes of the Mediterranean.

Our Chef's mouth watering menus are also inspired by authentic English and Asian cuisine.

We have an extensive list of wines representing the old and new world to compliment your meal.

The "1651" restaurant is open for residents and non-residents to enjoy lunch and dinner.
