Question:

Recommendation for algae eating creatures in ten gallon tank with male betta and 3 corydoras catfish?

My tank is planted, and I'm worried about apple snails and black mystery snails eating my plants and not doing much cleaning. I'm also worried about controlling a population of Malaysian Trumpet snails. I'd prefer a snail of some sort but I'll take whatever algae help (that will withstand a somewhat frisky male betta) that I can get. Anybody have a recommendation?

  1. Otos but you would have to get three. I am not such a huge fan of otos however....I think they are ugly!

There is also a type of killifish called the American Flag Fish you could get 2 of these. They are free swimming and kind of cool.

  2. the trumpets are really your only option

unless you can find nerite snails

  3. yes, introducing the best algae eater fish: OTOCINCLUS!

these fish are small, friendly, cute, and they definitely won't eat the leaves or roots of your plants, purely thriving on algae. :)

you may need to get a few since these are shoaling species.

    good luck!

  4. get bristlenose catfish
