Question:

Recommendation for books on home construction?

I'm interested in learning more about contracting/construction skills. Specifically in areas such as - Framing walls, sheetrocking, running wiring, hooking up new breakers. Information around the proper way to do these things... and as per California building codes. If you know of any specific titles of books or authors, perhaps books used for obtaining a contractors license? I'm just not even sure where to start. Thanks!!

  1. go to your local library they will have books loaded with color photos, and best off, it wont cost you a thing

  2. try www.bamm.com or www.amazon.com I get my books like that from home improvement store like Lowe's or Home depot

  3. Amazon.com has customer reviews along with the titles so you can see what other people think of the book.

Since Green building is here and will only become more popular, consider reading up on this as well.  These homes sell faster, sell for more $ (according to reports) and are energy efficient.

See the following website on green building (there's about a book's worth of material there and still growing)

    http://www.building-your-green-home.com

    Hope this helps!
