I am looking to purchase a personal watercraft within the next year and I was looking for someone's current perspective on which models they would recommend based on fun level, power, and reliability.

  1. Ski-do is the best jet ski made. Nothing else needs to be said.

  2. People, if you're going to answer the question, make sure you get your facts right.  First off, there is no pwc called "Ski-Do", it's SeaDoo, and they suck as far as reliability goes.  Secondly, Kawasaki makes the Ultra 150, not Yamaha.

Shane, the new models are all fairly competitive, it pretty much boils down to your personal preference.  The 4 stroke engines are the quietest, don't have visible smoke, and give great fuel economy when compared to the two-stroke models. The Honda lineup has well designed hulls and Honda's reputation for reliable engines, but they're pricey.  Kawasaki probably has the most efficient pumps, and the STX-15,and STX-12 are some great 4-stroke models and their new Ultra 250 is currently the horsepower champ of all the PWC's.

Yamaha has their ultra reliable FX series of Waverunners, and they came out with the first budget 4-stroke with the VX110. Of course, there's always SeaDoo, I personally don't like them because they are the ride of choice for fat Yuppies.  They do have a good closed-loop cooling system, with is good for those to lazy to maintain their pwcs properly.

  3. If i were to recommend a watercraft....i would say the jet ski, yamaha ultra 150. These jet skis are nice. Mine is red and purple. If you are looking for something fast, and fun...this is the one for you. It can seat up to about 3 people depending on size of course. You can tube, ski, kneeboard, wakeboard...or whatever else you need to using this jet- ski. Also, you will pay a reasonable price for one. But if you are just looking for something for the family, one that sits 2-3 people, and you just want to cruize...i would suggest a seadoo, or something of that nature....hope this helps
