I'd like to take a trip to India on my own. What would be your recommendations, advice?

I'd like to visit a few cities (Delhi, Mumbai) and spend some time in Goa. What's the best way to travel from one place to another? By air? By train? By bus?

Thank you.

  1. visit Hamara Holiday if you are looking for Budget accomodation at all places

  2. well if u r a women.u mayface some problems.not serious ones but men will stare u n cover u on streets.but don,t get scared they r just getting curious.

saty away from men coz they think that foreigners can be taken for a ride.

    get a prepaid taxi everywhere.

    i would advise u to go to mumbai,delhi.agra,north east,andaman,goa n mumnai.

travel by air.it isn,t much expensive here.

avoid buying much from streets.as u r goin in cities,u can buy a lot of stuff from malls coz of fixed price there.

as far as tips r concerned.

    dress moderrately.

stay away from indian men.don,t ask them much questions.if u need then ask from an educated men.

get in motel before 6 pm.coz it is unsafe outside.

just take a little precautions n u will be safe.

it is a myth that india is unsafe.take precaution n enjoy this beautiful nation.

  3. HI,

I'ld say if you have time then travel by car , that's a good way to get closer to India.  You can go by air from Delhi to Mumbai because if you go by car it takes a lot of time. it depends where you are going.

  4. train and buses take a long time compared to the rest of the workd - if ur prepared for that, it is fine - eg delhi mumbai by train takes 17 hours at the minimum (1500 kms) while flying is 2 hours.  u should do delhi mumbai goa - you can also do varanasi and other medievial cities

  5. Good.Welcome to India.

But,why to visit only major cities?Real India lies in the small towns and villages.

I would suggest you to visit some small towns in Rajastan/Punjab/Orissa.

Delhi has a lot to offer for a tourist. It's a city which has seen continuous civilization for more than 2000 years.

Goa has some greatest beaches to chill. Stay out of trouble and don't dope in Goa;Indian jails are h**l-on-earth.

Why only Goa?Travel to Lakshadweep islands for amazing beaches.

I would suggest you travel by air between places far away(e.g. Del->Mum).For closer distances hire  a taxi or travel by train.

  6. you will feel more comfortable by air ,but it is costly compared to train and bus.It (by air) also takes less time to reach any cities or any place

  7. cheapest is bus or train, the advantage of the buses are they are more direct whereas the train station in Goa for example is about 15 miles for the beach resorts, that said the trains are more fun and more comfortable and you get the chance to meet people. Planes of course are the quickest and most expensive.

Where to go? I would reccomend Amritsar, see the golden temple, Rajistan for a camel treck and visit Jodpur, Jaipur and Jaselmere. If you are then in around December, go Skiing in Gulmarg (Kashmir)

Goa, Kerela, Hampi Chennai, its all wonderfull, you cvan't fail to enjoy yourself

You could even rent my apartment in Baga/Calangute!

  8. 1.U haven't mentioned abt the country u r from.....coz if u r from west then u must travel by air most of the time. Travel by bus or train can be done only once for the sake of experience....i am sure u will enjoy.

2.Delhi is a place that u shud visit. visit the Taj Mahal. From there go to Rajasthan- Jaipur and spend abt 4 days der. U can see the ehnic life in India.

    3. From Jaipur travel to Mumbai. Spend 5 days in mumbai city and expericence the influence of western culture and thir way of life....FYI its not a clean city...u may fall ill on the 3rd day if ur body is weak.

    4. From Mumbai depart to Karnataka state- Bagalore city. Goolge abt Karnataka state in india and selce one place and visit it....the temples are very clean.

    5. If u have time do visit Kerala. Its the most beautiful place.....again google abt kerala state and select the place u want to visit. Its a true beauty according to me.

Some imp tips: Bargain for half the price while buying a particular thing. Wear appropriate clothes...(fully covered)...for a hassle free journey....else u will have indian men sitting like flies around you.

Hope u enjoy ur trip to India.
